Leading all of the Highways, Transportation and Environmental functions of one of the leading councils in the Greater Manchester Area. Reporting to the Corporate Director of Place and responsible for all maintenance and capital investment activities on the Highways for the area, including asset and traffic management and overall strategy. This role also is responsible for all environmental services including Waste, Grounds Maintenance, Street Cleansing, Parks, Trees and arboriculture. Managing the One Trafford contract with Amey to deliver all the above services in a challenging financial and operational environment. Managed the department through the challenges of the Covid pandemic involving adapting services and reacting to changing circumstances. Created an environment for contractual growth through the prioritisation of Active Travel Schemes working with TfGM. Conducted a thorough review of the service offering of the contract and a mid-contract review to understand possible performance improvements, cost savings and improvements to the contract relationship. This resulted in better contractual performance against a backdrop of challenge. Instigated decarbonisation initiatives through Active Travel and the roll out of EV charging infrastructure
