Perform fire modeling, fire engineering calculations and code compliance evaluations in support of nuclear power plant related issues including those arising from transitioning to an NFPA 805 licensing basis. Examples of codes used in code compliance evaluations include NFPA 13, NFPA 15 and NFPA 55. Perform site visits to collect information as necessary for conducting fire modeling analyses or code compliance evaluations as well as providing on site staff support at nuclear power plants as necessary. Prepare technical reports documenting the results of fire modeling calculations and code compliance evaluations. Analyze code requirements and intent relating to the fire and life safety design of structures using NFPA and national and local building codes. Survey sites for fire alarm and sprinkler design and installation. Prepare and review automatic sprinkler, fire alarm systems, and life safety and egress design packages and shop drawings for various types of structures. Structures evaluated address commercial, government and military buildings; and include occupancies such as business, assembly, healthcare, mercantile, residential, industrial, storage, and high hazard facilities. Provide onsite fire protection support at a large federal government buildings and complexes. Perform acceptance testing of sprinkler and fire alarm systems.
