I consider the scope for innovative methods to enable enhanced understanding of the Political Economy of a context at the World Bank. One current project is the design and operationalization of a new rapidly disbursing financial instrument - the Displacement Crisis Response Mechanism (DCRM). The DCRM responds to displacement (of persons) shocks. I identify and evaluate the efficacy of potential approaches, including use of satellite generated imagery, survey methodologies, observation data, sensor data, and data integrity vetting via triangulation of different sources. I develop and enable collaboration with leading academic, development, humanitarian, government and research actors for the purpose of program design and implementation, as well as the conceptualisation, exploration and testing of potential measurements of risk with a view to potential operationalisation of new risk financing instruments.
