ABOUT CHRIS LEANEY
I have nine years of experience in central banking and financial risk management, with an increasing focus on climate change and sustainability. With a background in Economics, I combine deep analytical skills with effective project management and a people-led approach to achieve robust, timely and supported outcomes. I have strong domestic and international relationships across the financial sector, government and multilateral agencies. I have led internal working groups and external communities such as the Council of Financial Regulators Climate Community, while also supported international fora including RBNZ\'s participation in the Network for Greening the Financial System. I bring a collaborative approach, seeking impactful change to address significant challenges. I am also a passionate volunteer, currently for Everybody Eats (food waste, food poverty and social isolation) in Auckland where I work alongside a chef to lead a team of volunteers delivering quality and timely pay-what-you-can restaurant meals using rescued produce to the local community. I co-founded, and was the inaugural president of, the University of Bath branch of Anthony Nolan (stem cell register) in 2016, a group which still operates today and has resulted in thousands of students signing up to potentially save the life of someone with blood cancer or a blood disorder. In my spare time I enjoy playing netball, ocean swimming, hiking and travelling.
