About Christopher Wong
Over the past three years, I have been involved in United States Department of Energy research that will help to enable commercial nuclear facilities to safely transport their waste products based on a risk assessment tool that is currently under development. My involvement with this research has also led me to two internship opportunities with the Idaho National Laboratory where I\'ve worked on various components of the Multiphysics Object-oriented Simulation Environment (MOOSE), especially its TensorMechanics module and website infrastructure. My career aspirations align with developing structural analysis software or designing experimental facilities requiring advanced procedures not provided by standard building codes. My life\'s passion is physics and mathematics, through which I intend to serve our society.TECHNICAL SKILLS-• Expertise in advanced finite element methods & how to solve systems of partial differential equations with computers• Develop/verify simulations including structures or solid bodies with geometric/material nonlinearities & cyclic deterioration• Experience with professional & collaborative software development, e.g, creating documentation & using Git version control• Research experience, e.g, writing proposals, lit. reviews, progress reports, & manuscripts while managing budget constraints• Prepare documents & records with Office, Adobe, & Autodesk suites, LaTeX, HTML, & raster/vector graphics software• Diligent when applying standards – well versed on AISC 360/341, ASCE 7, ACI 318, 754, AASHTO, & ASTM• Proficiency with FEA software, e.g, ABAQUS, RAM, MOOSE, LibMesh, Cubit, MSC Marc, & SOLIDWORKS• Expertise in various coding languages, especially C/C++, Python, & MATLAB (as well as Shell, HTML/CSS, & Java/JSON)• Physical concepts: Structural/solid mechanics; thermo/fluid dynamics; constitutive material models; stochastic phenomena• Structural dynamics: Modal, time history, & frequency domain analysis; fatigue analysis; design for strength & ductility• Seismology: 3D wave modelling with soil-structure interaction; strong motion processing; response spectrum generation• Numerical methods: integration/differentiation; linear/nonlinear systems of equations; matrix factorization; eigenproblems• Computational science: code optimization; regression testing; MPI app. development; multiprocessing on supercomputers
