Throughout the past 25years of my working career I have lead/managed all types of Railway surveys such as: Topographical surveys using the most up to date Survey equipment allowing one man operation, Laser Profile surveys of Tunnels and bridges, manual gauging surveys of platforms and Underbridges using platform gauges and tapes etc. and also line and level surveys using versine kit and level and staff. My role as Lead Surveyor also involved the training staff in all aspects of survey and on-track work. Included in this task was the delegation of activities and monitoring of all work completed by the Technicians.I have developed my skills in Permanent Way Design using MX Rail and Microstation software packages to produce Form A, Form B and Approved for Construction Designs for Many Track off construction projects throughout the country.I am also a Competant user of ClearRoute Software Package and capable of clearing Routes and Building complex vehicle Profiles for use by Network Rail Gauging Engineers. I have also been involved in the setting out of Vipa Baseplates (direct fixing track to bridge deck) and track lowering schemes.Most of the projects I have worked on have been managed by myself from the awarding of the contract to completion of the on-site work. As part of this, I have managed project costs, ensuring all work was completed within the agreed budget, as well as setting out and adhering to tight timescales.
