My first job in high school was working at Blockbuster Video, mostly because I could take home four free movies every day. You can’t watch that many movies every day … but I tried. I eventually made my way to the University of Southern California, School of Cinema. I just wanted to be a part of making movie magic. One day in class, I met the producer of Braveheart and I asked him “What does a producer do?”, and after a long pause he slowly said: “I make shit happen”. That was the lightbulb moment.So, I started producing right out of college. I had no idea what I was doing. I accidentally started my own production company, got married (not accidental), had three boys (not accidental), bought a house (terrible accident) and ten years later I somehow still had this little production/post production business. I still wasn’t very good yet. I shut my business down and started working with some amazing artists at companies like MPC and The Mill and it was like being back at school - long hours and lots of coffee but learning and learning and learning. I’m really nothing but the amalgamation of a million little lessons I’ve learned from people much smarter than me. I’ve been lucky, for sure. I lived in India for a year as Head of Studio for The Mill Bangalore. I worked at the MSG Sphere, that amazing futuristic event space in Las Vegas you can\'t stop seeing on social media. I worked for Happy Mushroom, the company who pioneered all the Virtual Art Department methodologies for Lucasfilm and their Star Wars series. Learning, learning, learning.My colleagues here at Platige US - Jason and Gawain and Aurelien and Justin - their stories are all intertwined throughout my own. It’s incredible that we’ve all come together again. I love my job.Platige is a global VFX company with 25+ years experience delivering the full spectrum of high end creative visual effects for commercials, film/episodic, and game cinematic marketplaces.
