In my role as Decarbonisation Estimating Lead, I specialize in reviewing clients’ drawings, schematics, and specifications to develop competitive bids for MEP installations and decarbonisation projects. I estimate costs, perform material take-offs, and collaborate with suppliers to ensure accuracy and alignment with project objectives. Additionally, I prepare detailed bid/quote write-ups for client review to clearly communicate technical and commercial aspects. During the initial tender phase, I proactively raise clarifications, ensuring a thorough understanding of client requirements while fostering seamless coordination with suppliers for successful project execution.Key to the design and build tender process is interpreting the customer\'s request to determine what the best solution will be. To achieve this I work alongside the design and pre-construction teams to evaluate solutions and put forward our best proposal. This involves making design assumptions based on my experience or liaising with the design managers. In the role I often perform preliminary cost estimating to assist with the evaluation of various concept designs.I estimate mechanical, electrical and civil works for projects such as air source heat pump installations, ground source heat pumps, hybrid systems, biomass systems, CHP, prefabricated MEP distribution modules (risers, laterals), prefabricated plantroom modules, solar PV installations, LED lighting and building insulation upgrades (roof, walls, windows etc). As part of the process I supervise and ensure team members are aligned to the bid so they can assist with setting up budgets, contacting suppliers and cost compilation. I led the setup of software and database for take-offs and created templates for each product type, including automation of pricing processes. During costing I analyse actual project costs to forecast future project costs and lead reviews of pricing with Directors.
