About Chris Hackett

Currently I am looking for any and all work: full time, part time, gigs or career path, legit or shady: if it pays I will consider it. My skill set is wide and in some places quite deep. I am a quick study and excellent at laying down a screen of bullshit, as needed. I do a whole lot of stuff, rejecting consumerism in favor of DIY and self-reliance, making the world a better and more interesting place one dumpster-dived piece of obtanium at a time. I am an artist, welder, fabricator and an excellent solver of interesting problems (even better at interesting problem creation). I can write (monthly column in Popular Science magazine starts in the February issue) teach (occasional Adjunct Assistant Professor at NYU) be charming on camera (been on-air talent on build shows since 2002, ranging from a full season on Junkyard Wars in 2003 to my own show,\"Stuck With Hackett\", on the Science Channel) and get crowds all excited and hyped up and smarter (public speaking gigs ranging from Maker Faire to the annual Teague Academy talk to Disaster Preparedness Boot Camp). Currently looking for Build Producer gigs, but will entertain any interesting proposal.
