My work continues with a blend of operational, marketing/business development/client management, and traditional project management/senior review support to our Environmental Services team here in British Columbia. I continue to co-lead the Site Investigation, Remediation and Risk Assessment team which has experienced a large diversification of client base and project types over the years. As a Principal within our environmental leadership team, one of our largest responsibilities is to foster and mentor the growth of our up and coming consultants and connect them accordingly with others within our environmental team, and alternate business centres within Stantec, so that their professional growth and technical collaboration is maximized. With regards to my operational responsibilities, I oversee the management of our Vancouver Island offices and help guide our staff through these difficult times as we continue to strive to find a balance between the continued growth our teams are experiencing, in relation to the various pressures of the on-going global pandemic, and adjusting to how we stay connected and viable as a multidisciplinary team.

I used to use the term \"specialized generalist\" almost jokingly with regards to myself while building a career surrounded by those with professional designations (or two, or three.) behind their names.I was wrong.I now realize just how advantageous being someone who has experienced so much, both technically and professionally, across a wide range of topics can be. I have been privileged to be a part of the growth of a small-to-medium sized company where everyone had to know a little something about everything, in order for us to succeed. I have been privileged to have had a strong mentor guiding and supporting me for over a decade. I have been privileged to have had an amazing group of people come into my life both at work as well as at home. This has led me to learn more through \'osmosis\' than by direct teaching, and now that I reflect back on these experiences, I know that this has made me a stronger professional, as well as a leader.I look forward to the challenges that lie ahead as I take what I have learned within the environmental consulting industry and apply them to continuing my personal and professional growth, including playing a part in making our world, our cities, and our communities cleaner, safer, and more vibrant.
