Information Security Manager - Europe @Rentokil Initial
Another complex and challenging role; that also happens to be very enjoyable, where I help Rentokil Initial\'s European businesses become and maintain their information security through a wide variety of means. We have a presence in 18 European countries ranging from Finland & Poland in the North of Europe to Greece and Israel in the south. I help to drive GRC within European businesses on the \"standard\" InfoSec things: Patching, updates, OS variants, Remote Access, MFA, introducing standards and processes and ensuring communication is free and simple. Within Rentokil, I am leading the global projects on User Awareness and IT Due Diligence for Mergers and Acquisitions. I own and maintain the playbook for Europe and consult for other regions as needed. Specialisms that fall under my remit are IoT devices (often introduced by acquisitions), and OT/Industrial networks, based on my experience with British Gypsum and similar construction companies.
ABOUT CHRIS FURNELL
My main driver for moving into security came about because we were hit hard by a NotPetya ransomware attack in 2017. Having seen the devastating effects of that attack and being amazed and awed by our our business and IT teams\' resilience and sheer determination to overcome it; I decided that I would do anything and everything in my power to prevent it happening again. It was a while before an opportunity arose, and when it did, I grabbed it, I\'ve got a wealth of experience as a senior IT Leader, Manager, subject matter expert and a wide understanding of most IT areas (some technical, some not) and coupled with my recent qualification as a CISSP, I believe I can be a valuable asset to any organisation. I\'m also a dual British and Irish citizen, so am able to work anywhere in the EU as an EU National, should that be necessary.
