About Chris Frias

Dr. Frias experience in numerical modeling is international. He has developed hydrodynamic models for several rivers in the Peruvian Amazon Basin, the Madeira River in Brazil, the Red River in North Dakota, USA, and the Big Sioux River in South Dakota, USA among others. These models included detailed 3D Large Eddy Simulations (LES) to 2D Finite Element Simulations. He has a total of 14 years’ experience related to field and hydraulics engineering. Additionally, he has been involved in the development of river engineering software such as RVRMeander ( http://rvrmeander.org/) and MEANDRE (which will be available on a future version of TELEMAC2D).Among his skills are:Numerical modeler of incompressible environmental flows such as rivers, oceans, creeks and groundwater using software such as ANSYS FLUENT, ANSYS CFX, STAR-CCM+, OpenFOAM, FLOW-3D, RIVER2D, SWMM, FLO-2D, TUFLOW, EFDC, CONCEPTS, RVRMeander, HEC-RAS, HEC-HMS, MIKE21, MIKE11, DELFT3D, SWAN, SRH-2D, ADH, dualSphysics and TELEMAC2D.Experienced in High Performance Computing (HPC) applied to Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD).Strong knowledge of CAD and GIS software (Civil 3D, Infraworks, ArcGIS, etc)Strong knowledge of C++, Java, Fortran and Matlab in Linux and Windows platforms.Experienced on field data collection for river modelling such as ADCP, terrestrial LIDAR and single beam and multibeam echo sounder measurements.Experienced as a GPS surveys supervisor in open pit mining sites,Experienced as a web developer using HTML, php, mySQL.Experienced with databases in Oracle (SQL-DDL, SQL-DML and SQL/PL)
