About Chris Elcock
Personal Summary: Spirited architect committed to excellence in both the design process and finished built product. Significant experience on performing arts, interpretive and educational facility projects, including work as project manager for the creation of a new theater within the Ocean City Convention Center, the new Harriet Tubman Underground Railroad Visitor Center, and a number of school renovations and new construction within Maryland. Active member of the American Institute of Architects and supporter of the Baltimore Chapter’s professional development opportunities for young architects. Chris also served on Maryland\'s Coast Smart Council. The Council, established in 2014 and run through the Maryland Department of Natural Resources, establishes criteria for new, reconstructed or rehabilitated State structures that are located within Maryland’s coastal areas and under threat of sea-level rise. GWWO: GWWO is an award-winning design practice dedicated to client service and quality design that is both evocative and inspirational. The firm’s designs are driven by a rigorous process focused on realizing and embodying each client’s story within the architectural expression and user experience of each building and site. This story-based design approach is enhanced by a commitment to sustainable design. The result is progressive architecture that tells a story—and achieves striking presence while remaining responsive to its site and surroundings. GWWO works with public and private clients on cultural and educational projects throughout Maryland, the region, and the United States, including K-12, higher education, interpretive center, nature center, museum, theater, arts, library, park, and recreation facilities.
