About Chris Claflin

I am committed to serving educationally underserved communities and finding unique and innovative solutions to the challenges facing public education today. I have done this throughout my career, first as a teacher and school principal at YES Prep Public Schools and Compass Rose Public Schools, as a head of schools and interim regional superintendent of KIPP Texas San Antonio, as the executive director of Green Dot Public Schools - Southeast Texas region, as an executive director of feeder with Houston ISD, and as an area superintendent with IDEA Public Schools. I have managed and coached K-12 principals and have worked relentlessly to elevate and promote educational opportunities for the students we are privileged to serve. As a leader, I leverage my strengths as a strategic thinker to see the picture holistically. I am passionate about intentionally building diverse teams and maximizing high expectations in both rigor and culture. I partner closely with my principals to maximize their performance through modeling, coaching, and developing. I have walked in their shoes and am truly invested in supporting their growth and success. I consider myself fortunate to be on the front lines with students, communities, and educators so that we can one day achieve educational equity for all.
