About Chris Bratsch
Chris is a Senior Project Manager and Civil Engineer with 35 years of project and construction management experience successfully completing large multi-disciplinary engineering, design, and construction projects. Serving both public and private sector clients, his current work primarily focuses on energy transition away from fossil fuels to renewable fuels and carbon sequestration. High quality and timely project execution has always been a hallmark of his work, and in recent years he has transitioned the focus of his career from oil & gas facilities to recycling, energy transition and carbon sequestration markets. Recent projects include management of a capital project portfolio for an industry leader in secondary lead smelting, FEL2 and FEL3 for a metric tons per day greenfield canola processing facility, isobutanol process optimization for use in renewable jet fuel production, and two FEED projects for biochar production via pyrolysis of wood waste for municipal clients, one of which was approved for full funding and is currently in construction.Chris’s primary responsibilities include project and management, quality management, and continuous improvement process implementation. A mentor to Stantec engineers and project managers, Chris is well respected for supporting project professionals and project teams in streamlining work practices, finding innovative solutions to project execution challenges, and supporting and improving QA/QC implementation and documentation. Chris has significant experience in project and program management of engineering design and construction for existing and proposed facilities, including secondary lead smelting, canola crush plants, refineries, distilleries, and pipeline facilities (terminals, compressor stations, and pump stations). His experience includes program management for small to mid-cap, multi-disciplined engineering and design programs; stage gate engineering and construction management for major projects; multi-media environmental permitting, compliance auditing, database development and data management; and large, facility-wide process wastewater and stormwater system segregation and upgrades. Mr. Bratsch is a registered Professional Engineer in Minnesota and North Dakota, a certified project manager, and an honorably-discharge veteran of the United States Army (19••••87).

Management of engineering design and construction projects for large industrial facilities, including secondary lead smelting, soybean and canola crush plants, distilleries, crude oil refineries, pipeline terminals, pump stations, compressor stations.Selected Project ExperienceFEL2 Engineering for MTPD Greenfield Canola Processing Facility | Confidential Client | Saskatchewan, Canada | Project ManagerManaged the Front End Loading Phase 2 (FEL2) engineering for a proposed MTD canola oil processing facility. The project’s objectives were to develop the project to a pre-defined level to develop a cost estimate factored from major process equipment, a schedule estimate, make any critical decisions that will influence the subsequent preliminary and detailed design of the plant, and allow the client to evaluate the business case for the Project. Based on the results of the FEL2, the project was approved and has moved into FEL3 engineering. Stantec continues to provide multi-disciplined engineering services for the project, including process, mechanical and instrumentation and controls engineering. Crude Oil Pipeline Release Emergency Response | Confidential Client | Edinburg, North Dakota, United States | Project ManagerProject manager for emergency response activities for a crude oil release to a farm field and adjacent wetland. Wenck performed vacuum truck operations and tank farm operations over a 16-day emergency response operation. This project deployment involved over 30 Wenck staff, activation of six subcontractors from Wenck’s reciprocal services subcontractor network and consisted of over 60 technical staff and 70 pieces of equipment.
