ABOUT CHRIS BRANSON

I\'m an experienced senior leader and strategist, with a wide network in the health sector and in-depth experience of engaging with and working alongside senior stakeholders, including clinicians. I specialise in the strategic use of insight to solve system problems and achieve lasting policy or practice change, guiding insight models from design to implementation. In 2023 I founded White Tail, a boutique health and care consultancy, where I lead on research, system engagement and patient experience work.I spent 10 years working at NHS England, most recently as Head of System Development, in System Transformation’s Population Health Management team. Prior to this I held various senior roles in NHS England’s Insight and Feedback team, including oversight of the national GP Patient Survey, and was trained in social research methods during 3 years at Ipsos’s Social Research Institute.As an example of my strategic approach to insight, at Ipsos I co-created a behavioural research approach, utilising the COM-B model to ensure fieldwork generated evidence-based interventions. At NHS England I designed a new Integrated Care Experience Survey, utilising federated data architecture to deliver insights to ICBs in near-real time. And at White Tail I have directed engagement and clinical research design to support the deployment of new diagnostic techniques to drive down inequalities in women’s health care. I am a rigorous analytical and creative thinker, with a strong academic background in both Philosophy (Warwick, PhD and MA with Distinction) and Natural Sciences (Cambridge, BA Hons 1st class)My specialist areas include:• Strategic use of insight for commissioning, improvement and evaluation;• Policy-focused public and stakeholder research;• Patient experience and feedback mechanisms, including behavioural insights;• NHS data infrastructure and intelligence functions;• National patient survey statistics and analysis, including developing new surveys;• Integration of care and Population Health Management;• Information governance, especially around working with patients and the public; and• Digital transformation, including medical device research.
