About Chris Black
Architecture is a living mirror of how organizations work together. Technical decisions matter, but building coherent technology at scale is about building great teams and empowering the people on them. The hardest and most rewarding part is creating an environment where good decisions emerge on their own, without you in the room. The right amount of governance is almost always less than you\'d expect. It holds across cloud transformations, platform consolidation, and API strategy at Fortune 50 scale. An organization needs enough to keep things coherent and compliant, but not so much that it slows people down or stifles creativity.Figuring out what AI actually means for a retailer at scale, in ways that change how customers shop and how engineers build, has been the most consequential work of my career. It\'s shipped, it\'s in production, and customers are using it every day.
