Relief Supervisor / Journeyman Carman | Freight Car Inspection, Repair & Rail Yard Operations •Conduct qualified Class I, IA, II, Extended Haul, and Transfer Train inspections at Hobson Yard, ensuring all rolling stock meets FRA and AAR standards before release to service. •Relief Supervisor, overseeing daily activities of mechanical personnel, coordinating with transportation teams to minimize delays, and ensuring yard operations run efficiently and safely. •Lead continuous improvement efforts focused on increasing reliability, reducing repair cycle times, and minimizing repeat defects—supporting improved car availability and train velocity. •Mentor and train new hires and junior craft employees, delivering hands-on instruction in inspection techniques, safe work practices, and proper repair procedures. •Facilitate ongoing skills development and cross-training, fostering a more flexible and capable workforce aligned with long-term operational goals. •Promote a culture of safety, accountability, and process discipline by actively engaging crews in safety briefings, job safety analyses (JSAs), and after-action reviews. •Collaborate with leadership in both mechanical and transportation departments to identify systemic issues, recommend solutions, and implement process improvements that align with organizational performance metrics.
