ABOUT CHRIS ANDERSON

I have 28 years of law enforcement (24 years P.O.S.T.) experience, including arrest duties, evidence collection & handling, post-arrest follow-up, intel gathering, courtroom preparation & testifying, financial crime investigations, homicide investigations, officer involved shooting investigations, in-custody death investigations and narcotics law offenses. I have military experience, serving in the United States Coast Guard from August 1991 to April 1998. After eight years of service, I received an honorable discharge as a Boatswain’s Mate 2nd Class (E5) and completed one year at Nunez Community College before I began my career with the Louisiana State Police. During my 25 years with the Louisiana State Police, I served 14 years with the Bureau of Investigations as both a detective, Field Training Agent (FTA), and supervisor. I investigated 9 officer involved shootings as lead investigator, several of which resulted in the death of the suspect or officer involved. I also assisted with the investigation of 19 officer involved shootings, along with the investigation of in-custody deaths as lead investigator. After several years of obtaining lead investigator experience into high profile officer involved shootings and in-custody deaths, I was promoted to Sergeant and gained experience supervising these investigations. I later retired in 2023 and re-hired with the agency as a Criminal Investigator. In addition to the vast knowledge and experience gained from investigations, I was chosen to serve as a member of the Louisiana State Police Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Reform Team, Force Investigation Unit Steering Committee, identified as a Louisiana State Police Subject Matter Expert for instruction purposes and assisted with the creation of the Force Investigation Unit. While serving in my current role as a Criminal Investigator within the Louisiana State Police Force Investigation Unit, I specialize in investigating sensitive criminal investigations involving Louisiana State Police uses of force. While assigned to the Force Investigation Unit as both a Region 1 Sergeant and Investigator, I have completed several use of force trainings, conferences, and webinars. Most importantly, I have completed training and obtained a certification as a Force Science Analyst, which has certified me to apply the principles and concepts of Force Science in the analysis of use of force incidents. Additionally, I have attended the 80 hour Federal Law Enforcement Training Center Use of Force Training Program, which certifies me as a Use of Force Instructor.
