Perform emergency and non-emergency public safety communications for police, fire, EMS, service agencies, and task force units for Jefferson County.• Receive, interrogate, and prioritize calls and complaints from the public concerning emergency situations• Receive 911 calls in which information is solicited regarding the nature and location of the emergency and provide emergency instructions to the caller regarding actions to take until emergency personnel can arrive• Operate a multi-channel, two way radio system to receive and dispatch calls and service runs to public safety field units.• Operate a Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) system• Verify the CAD recommendations for the type and nature of personnel and equipment sent on responses. • Maintain an up-to-date responding unit status file• Track and advise responding units of changes in relevant information regarding public and responder safety• Perform historical data and background searches in order to safeguard the responding emergency personnel and citizens. Searches include computer record searches, check and confirm warrant statuses • Knowledge of the names and general locations of principle streets and buildings• Achieve and maintain certifications pursuant to FBI/NCIC and EMD regulations
