ABOUT CHRIS EVANS
Making innovation happen – if we can imagine it, we can build it.”I turn bold ideas into innovative realities. As Head of Product Innovation & Technical Services at STEAMhouse (Birmingham City University), I lead a 10-strong, cross-disciplinary team and a £multi-million prototyping facility that blends electronics, digital fabrication, AV and the arts. Together we’ve delivered award-winning labs, accelerated 500+ creatives projects and secured the new CreaTech programme worth £6.7 m.Outside of the university, I’ve spent a decade engineering 16 themed-entertainment attractions with TwistedFX, from escape rooms to large-scale walkthroughs, earning ScareCON accolades for interactive and innovative technology and experiences. Leading multidisciplinary teams, managing client budgets and architecting show-control systems has driven my passion for story-led engineering. What I bring• Strategic leadership: Directing seven-figure CAPEX, vendor relationship management & risk registers.• Immersive creativity: Integrating AV, IoT and narrative design to craft unforgettable guest experiences.• STEM-to-ARTS translation: mentoring students, creators and SMEs to turn concepts into market- ready prototypes.• Future-focus: Executive MBA (in progress)+ NEBOSH & ISO 45001 creds underpinning safe, scalable delivery.I’m interested in Immersive Tech, intelligent buildings, smart-space automation, sensors and sustainable tech, IoT and I’m eager to channel that expertise into the world-leading themed-entertainment sector. If you’re building the next “wow” experience or looking for a collaborator who speaks both engineering and creativity, let’s connect.
