   Joining the White Sox Amateur City Elite (ACE) Program as a coach is not just about developing baseball skills; it\'s about shaping lives and building futures. Established in 2007 to combat declining interest in baseball among African American youth and provide a positive alternative to the dangers of Chicago\'s most vulnerable neighborhoods, ACE has evolved into a beacon of hope and opportunity for its participants.In my role as a coach for the ACE Program, I am privileged to be part of a mission-driven initiative that goes beyond the diamond. With a focus on providing financial assistance and educational resources to over 150 youth annually, ACE equips participants with the tools they need to succeed both on and off the field.One of the program\'s most remarkable achievements is its 99 percent high school graduation rate, a testament to the dedication and support provided to each participant. Moreover, ACE has helped more than 280 students secure scholarships to prestigious institutions such as Louisville, Michigan, Vanderbilt, and Historically Black Colleges & Universities, opening doors to opportunities that may have otherwise been out of reach.The impact of the ACE Program extends far beyond baseball diamonds and academic institutions. It fosters a sense of community, resilience, and empowerment among its participants, instilling values that will serve them well throughout their lives.Recognition for the program\'s outstanding contributions came in 2022 when ACE was named the recipient of the Allan H. Selig Award for Philanthropic Excellence, further underscoring its significance and impact on the lives of young people in Chicago and beyond.As a coach for the ACE Program, I am committed to nurturing talent, inspiring excellence, and empowering the next generation of leaders both on and off the field. Together, we are not just building better baseball players; we are building better futures for our youth and our community.
