ABOUT MEENA CHOPRA

Meena Chopra is an internationally known award-winning poet & visual artist with an unbridled passion for words, space, colours and forms. She has been practising her poetry and visual art for over three decades now. Born and brought up in India, now lives in Toronto, Canada. Meena graduated from Isabella Thoburn College Lucknow. Later qualified as a designer from Delhi and then as an Artist Educator from RCM Ontario. After having a career as a designer for seven years in the fashion industry, later she switched to fine arts & writing poetry. She simultaneously entrepreneured in advertising, marketing, media and broadcasting. website: She writes poetry both in English and her native language Hindi and has authored three poetry books. She has co-edited one anthology. Her poetry and art has been published in many literary journals worldwide like, American Diversity Report (USA), Artis Mag (Canada), Word Masala England, The Journal of Poetry Society (India), Poets International’ (India), Word Fest (Mississauga Writers\' Group), Canada Our Home, Zenith (Austria), Capriccio (Germany), Indian Voices (Canada), Acta Victoriana (Canada), Fresh Voices (League of Canadian Poets), Trinity Review (Canada) She has been featured in many news papers and TV channels several times, which include Toronto Star, Omni and Rogers TV. Her poetry has been translated into German and Urdu. Winner of many awards for her contribution to arts, literature and community work in the past, recently she has recently been awarded by the National Ethnic Press and Media Council of Canada for her contribution in art and literature and received 1st prize for her visual art by Visual Arts Mississauga.
