WORK HISTORY
Staff Cyber Research Engineer @Palo Alto Networks
Lead security research for PANW’s Cortex Xpanse attack surface management (ASM) platform by assessing and responding to various global internet threats. Cortex Xpanse is a global attack surface management platform that enables customers to mitigate attack surface risks through continuous discovery and monitoring across the entire internet. • Develop signatures to detect the latest security vulnerabilities and attack vectors that affect various applications, network devices, and operating systems. • Leverage global datasets to conduct research across various internet protocols and server types such as HTTP, SSH, FTP, Telnet, SNMP, NetBIOS, ModBus, EthernetIP, BACNet, and more. • Respond to research requests and product support from Fortune 100 companies and high profile government customers including US Department of Defense information networks (DODIN), US Air Force, US Army, DHS CISA, and FCEB entities. • Communicate threat response to both internal and external teams. • Conduct threat hunts, device research, and analysis of large internet-wide scan datasets using Google Cloud BigQuery (SQL). • Identify and communicate gaps and data quality issues when identified in our internet scans data. • Proactively track, triage, and lead research for new CVEs and vulnerabilities and assess customer impact. • Use large datasets such as internet scans data, netflow, passive DNS, etc to identify and write rules to track malicious cyber actors, their infrastructure, and campaigns. • Support the development of an internal Python-based tool used for querying large datasets in Google BigQuery. • Write scripts in Python to expedite research tasks and improve productivity. • Write and maintain various scripts used for scraping content of interest. • Identify and implement use cases for LLMs to support vulnerability research. • Collaborate with global cross-functional research, engineering, and product teams to improve efficacy in the Cortex Xpanse ASM product.
