Following 18 months of participatory research as part of my PhD in the Galapagos, my work with GCT advances the application of regenerative principles to the ecotourism model of the islands by engaging key stakeholders and policy-makers to address overtourism pressures, foster community leadership, and enhance conservation outcomes. Through co-designed action plans, a visitor code of conduct, digital information platforms, and community-led pilot projects, it seeks to shift tourism from a growth-focused system to one embedded within ecological and social well‑being.

ABOUT CHLOE KING

I work and research at the nexus of conservation, climate change, and tourism, leading global projects that seek practical solutions for shifting towards a regenerative economy that values people and nature above profit. I am in the final year of my PhD at the University of Cambridge, where I am working with stakeholders of the Galápagos Islands to co-create a more regenerative tourism future. I work as a consultant across projects that connect people and nature, from the Galapagos Conservation Trust to Solimar International.
