Bioacoustician and marine biologist working on applied science projects, including- Evaluating the acoustic benefits of voluntary vessel slowdown initiatives for quieter seas (both the Port of Vancouver\'s ECHO Program, and Washington Maritime Blue\'s Seattle\'s Quiet Sound program)- Long-term acoustic monitoring at Lime Kiln on San Juan Island- Advising the offshore wind industry on the latest marine mammal mitigation-monitoring solutions- Faciliating ocean engineering companies in their development of passive acoustic monitoring equipment- Project management of large international acoustic projects (e.g. LMR-funded ACCURATE project on passive acoustic density estimations, and the Sound and Marine Life JIP-funded COSIMMAS on reviewing the effects of \'continous\' sound on marine mammals)- Using in-house real-time passive acoustic mitigation montoring technologies (CABs) alongside industrial projects at sea.

ABOUT CHLOE MALINKA

I am a senior scientist presently working in an environmental consultancy in the UK, where my work is largely centred around ocean acoustics, the conservation issue of ocean noise, and mitigating human-animal interactions at sea. I am trained as bioacoustician who listens to sounds to better understand animals and their environments, and am currently working in the applied sciences space. Here, I marry the latest research findings and marine technological developments to address the conservation concerns of my clients, which include ports, navies, regulatory bodies, marine renewable developers, and museums around the world. I am hopeful that my deep understanding of marine conservation and my demonstrated enthusiasm for science communication can contribute to the health of our oceans.
