ABOUT CHLOË BLONDIN

As a Retail Account Manager I work with Loblaws to divert millions of pounds of food from landfills and into the hands of not-for-profits across the country. Anybody who has worked or studied alongside me could tell you that food access in Canada has always been “my thing”; from my first job working as a clerk at Zehrs I have been focused on understanding and wanting to improve our food distribution system in Canada. Throughout my time at McMaster I took every opportunity to research and study food access and food distribution in Canada and abroad, completing internships at CPG companies like Hersheys to better understand another angle and contributor to our food chain. As a student of the Integrated Business and Humanities program at the DeGroote School of Business I had the unique opportunity to study these ideas and this system from the emerging lens of socially-minded businesses. Learning about business in a people-first, socially-conscious way, and being surrounded by like-minded peers, I was encouraged and inspired to not only focus on this topic that I cared so deeply about, but to imagine solutions and paths forward that live outside the realm of what we know and see today.
