Experience
Director of Technology, Global Development Services Division
Jun 2017 — Present
Concurrent with his role as Chief Technology Officer at Management Systems International (MSI), Chip leads technology services for Tetra Tech\'s Global Development Services Division of which MSI is a part, In this capacity he oversees IT, internal business systems, knowledge management and client-facing systems development for six Tetra Tech subsidiaries, comprising about staff and $550M in annual revenue. The subsidiaries include Tetra Tech ARD (formerly Associates in Rural Development), and MSI, two of the largest vendors serving the US Agency for International Development. The work of the Division is spread across over 50 countries with American, European and Australian subsidiaries running projects in international development sectors from Anti-corruption to Monitoring and Evaluation, to Energy Infrastructure. Chip\'s key strength is being able to very effectively bridge the communication gap between technology professionals and their non-technology counterparts. Helping both sides work together to more clearly understand each other results in cohesive teams that are able to move complex transformation projects to completion. By combining this skill with an ability to develop and adapt technology strategy to evolving needs over time, Chip is able to help the business respond rapidly to change. Having worked as an international development researcher, a software engineer and as a senior technology manager, Chip brings a lot of technical depth to the table while also bringing along a great deal of empathy for international development workers who work in challenging environments every day. His experience living and working in environments as diverse as Switzerland and Yemen means that he can build teams to devise appropriate solutions in any context.
