Whether it is protecting the trade secrets of how to build the world’s fastest street car, recovering lost profits for the patent holder of the most successful infomercial product, protecting a major television network’s trademarks against a cybersquatter, or being on the cutting edge of covenant not to compete law, Chip Morris has over 20 years of experience representing and counseling clients on a wide range of intellectual property matters.Mr. Morris is a former Chairman of the American Bar Association’s Sub-Committee on Trade Secrets and Tortious Interference with Contractual Relations. He has extensive experience in litigating trade secret and covenant not to compete cases, having been involved in over 40 successful trials, injunction hearings, or contempt hearings, and authored successful briefs in two of the most significant appellate decisions in the area. He has also been quoted by CNN.com and Wired Magazine as an expert on trade secret cases of national interest and has authored and presented several professional papers on trade secret and covenant to compete litigation. As head of the firm’s Intellectual Property group, Chip brings extensive patent, copyright, trademark, and unfair competition litigation experience to his practice. His recent work involves co-authoring a successful brief to the U.S. Supreme Court on a patent jurisdiction issue and obtaining injunctive relief against future trademark infringement in favor of a high-profile political advocacy group.
