Facing Change: Documenting DETROIT is a community photojournalism initiative creating a documentary record of Detroit by Detroit-area photographers. We accomplish this through an annual educational Fellowship; public events presenting established photographers; and showcasing our Fellows’ work via public art, exhibitions, and publications. We empower Detroit communities using our voices and vision, better defining how we see ourselves and how we are seen locally and globally. Our educational mission is both to train and mentor early-career Detroit photographers, and to directly engage community audiences.
