ABOUT CHIEMELA O.
I am a genomic data scientist working at the intersection of statistical genetics and translational research, applying whole genome sequencing and biobank-scale datasets to uncover genetic drivers of complex disease.In my current role, I design and lead end-to-end genomic analyses spanning GWAS, fine-mapping, and functional variant interpretation. My work focuses on translating genetic signals into biologically meaningful insights and prioritising candidate genes that can inform target discovery and therapeutic development.I have extensive experience working with high-dimensional datasets, including UK Biobank, and building scalable, reproducible pipelines for robust genomic analysis across diverse phenotypes.I am particularly motivated by applying statistical genetics in industry environments where genetic evidence directly supports decision-making in drug discovery, patient stratification, and precision medicine.Open to conversations around translational genomics, bioinformatics, and data-driven approaches to therapeutic development.
