Scott has served for several years now as Chief Valuation Officer for the firm BizEquity, LLC, an innovative and patented \"software as a service\" online business valuation tool which is dramatically improving access to credible valuation reports for entrepreneurs around the world. BizEquity clients include Experian, Dunn & Bradstreet, MasterCard and numerous commercial banks and investment management/insurance companies.He is a Certified Business Appraiser, having worked at his firm called Gabehart Valuation Services since After earning his MBA from Thunderbird and completing more than 2 years of study in the Economics PhD Program at Arizona State University, he worked for VR M&A for 7 years after beginning his career with Motorola and Schering-Plough as internal auditor (2 years) and with a local community college as full-time faculty teaching economics (4 years). For the past 25 years, Scott has been interacting with small business owners actively engaged in buying and selling companies of all types and sizes. Scott was appointed to the Board of Advisors for the International Society of Business Appraisers (ISBA) and also to the Business Valuation Resources (BVR) Leadership Council in 2025.He has been interviewed by the Wall Street Journal, Bloomberg, Business Week and Forbes during the past few years (among others) and written books such as \"The Upstart Guide to Buying, Valuing and Selling Your Business\"(Dearborn Publishing) and the \"Business Valuation Book\"(American Management Association). He is a regular participant in seminars and webinars covering a variety of valuation topics including presentations to SBA underwriters in CA and KY, CPA\'s in IL and lenders/appraiser\'s across the nation. Two webinars related to business valuations for SBA loan purposes were presented in 2014 on behalf of NACVA and CTI.Was appointed as Chair of SBA Valuation Issues for the International Society of Business Analysts (ISBA) and developed/taught business valuation certification course for licensed commercial real estate appraisers. Most recently, created and co-founded the Bizequity Business Valuation Institute (BVI) in 2017. The BVI offers a fully online, self-paced and interactive course on business valuation designed to enhance the skill set of financial advisors of all types in the realm of business appraisal. Graduates earn the \"Certified Business Valuation Specialist\" or CBVS designation upon course completion.
