ABOUT CHIARA VARAZZANI

Senior expert in applied behavioural science, evaluation, and innovation, with over 15 years of international experience in government, academia, private sector, and international organisations. Currently serving as Lead Behavioural Scientist at the OECD, Dr Varazzani leads strategic initiatives at management levels. The behavioural science team at the OECD has 3 missions: 1. Foster a network of behavioural experts from over 50 countries. Help governments around the world tackle policy challenges and experiment to understand what works, for whom, and in what context. Provide technical assistance on areas such as climate, health, financial decision-making, anti-corruption, and misinformation. Explore more oe.cd/OECD2024 Prior to this, Dr Varazzani held various positions in government, including Principal Advisor of the Behavioural Insights Unit of the Victorian Government in Australia, Executive Advisor in behavioural economics to the Australian Federal Government, and Research Fellow at the Behavioural Insights Team in London. With a proven track record in designing, executing, and evaluating interventions across diverse public policy areas, Dr Varazzani brings a wealth of experience to shaping effective organisational strategies. Beyond project-focused work, she is committed to nurturing talent and providing training for academics and staff, contributing to a culture of excellence and innovation. She holds a PhD in Behavioural Neuroscience from Sorbonne University, an MSc from the School for Advanced Studies in Social Sciences, and an MSc in Cognitive Sciences from the École Normale Supérieure. Dr Varazzani is a regular presenter at international conferences and events.
