Experience

  1. Senior Product Designer & Ux Strategist

New York State Workers' Compensation Board

Aug 2024 — Present · Albany, NY, US

I specialize in Product Design and UX Strategy with a human-centered focus. At New York State\'s Workers\' Compensation Board (WCB), I had the privilege of improving the lives of millions of injured workers and the teams of doctors, lawyers, leaders, and caseworkers dedicated to their recovery. By redesigning WCB\'s internal information systems, I bridged the gap between external and internal users, fostering a harmonious and intuitive experience. With tens of user personas and numerous ways of interacting with a complex system, here are some of my key accomplishments- Oversaw design specifications and standards- Organized and implemented a UX design process, promoting awareness and collaboration across SMEs, stakeholders, and business leads- Launched and completed an Information Architecture project that streamlined complex issues, saving time and resources- Designed an entire software application end-to-end, transitioning it from Windows 97 to a web-based platform- Organized and delegated project work between myself and another designer- Established the cadence for involving designers in meetings- Advocated for user testing to enhance design decisions- Participated in story refinement meetings, cutting project refinement time by 50% by focusing on requirements and providing clear design solutions- Collaborated with developers to create a theme builder and component storybook, which standardized the look and feel across the company’s tools- Designed user-centered workflows that addressed 65% of internal user pain points. These efforts directly impacted injured workers, as well as the caseworkers, jurors, and clinicians striving to restore their lives after workplace injuries.
