About Chester G.

I have over 20 years in education, administration, and policy. I make my difference helping other people make theirs, especially in the areas of disability, accessibility, community philanthropic support and professional development.

Experience

  1. Director of the Accessible Education Center and Graduate Instructor

    Tennessee Technological University

    May 2009 — Present

I lead efforts to ensure that the university campus academic and physical environments are fully accessible, welcoming, and usable. This position balances ensuring protection for faculty and academic freedom, with civil rights protections for the campus community and more specifically protections for students with disabilities as they pursue higher education. My role intersects both student affairs and academic affairs. I also teach, provide faculty development, partner with faculty research endeavors, and serve on a variety of campus committees. In addition to directing the Accessible Education Center, I also teach a variety of courses primarily on the graduate level. My courses have included traditional, hybrid and fully online formats incorporating learning management software (LMS) or course management software (CMS) components. Courses taught: SPED 7110 Family Collaboration, SPED 6010 Survey of Disability Characteristics, Methods, and Procedures, FOED 1822 Intro to Field Experiences, UNIV 1030.
