I work in adult disability supporting adults with learning, mental and physical disabilities. There are a range of tenants at the unit I work in. I support tenants with their day to day needs, personal care, medication, social support, house-keeping and making sure the tenants have healthy meals. Teamwork is a big part of the role as is communication since it is important that other staff members are aware of changes to care as they arise. This role and my previous role has given me hands-on experience working within adult mental health; I have experience working with adults with autism, learning disabilities, schizophrenia, anxiety and depression. I also have experience completing financial audits and reporting on financial transactions for the tenants as money management is a responsibility of the staff taking care of the tenants.
