Cherié Butts is Medical Director - Therapeutics Development Unit at Biogen (Cambridge, MA), leading clinical trial activities for treatment of neurodevelopmental disorders. She studied neuroendocrine regulation of immunity as a postdoctoral fellow at the National Institutes of Health and continued this work at the US Food & Drug Administration, taking on additional responsibilities of evaluating drug and biologics applications.Dr, Butts has held a number of roles since coming to Biogen in 2012, including clinical lead for Plegridy IM (now approved in the US and EU for multiple sclerosis). She served on the inaugural cohort of Biogen\'s Portfolio Transformation team, leading the probability of success theme and initiatives on change management, drug development for academic researchers, and project team learning & health. She is passionate about ensuring individuals from all backgrounds have an opportunity to contribute to the furtherance of biomedical research and works with organizations to redefine successful careers for scientists across all sectors. This includes serving as Trustee/Board member of academic institutions (Salem State University, Beth Israel-Lahey Health/Harvard Medical School) and scientific organizations (Federation of American Societies for Experimental Biology, Keystone Symposia, Society for Leukocyte Biology).
