About Chris Hensler
I studied my undergrad in chemical engineering at The University of Notre Dame. There, I got involved in undergraduate research in computer simulated catalysis, academic and student affairs. I started my career in engineering as a process engineering specialist in the Technology operating group of Chicago, Bridge & Iron (CB & I) in Houston, TX before determining I would pursue a career in medicine. Following a post-bacc at University of Pittsburgh for more prep and work as a CNA at a nursing home, I matriculated to and completed my M.D. at the University of Pittsburgh School of Medicine with a research year in the Physician-Scientist Training Program (not a PhD program) in neuroepigenetics of schizophrenia and molecular neurobiology of aging. I proceeded to match in Psychiatry in 2022 at University of Illinois at Chicago/University of Illinois Health System where I am entering my final year of graduate medical education in psychiatry, with experience in catatonia management, severe mental illness, legal-ethical management in involuntary treatment, ECT, TMS, multimodal therapy, reproductive psychiatry/women\'s mental health, and mental health care across the aging spectrum. My goal in practicing following graduation is to focus on outpatient and intensive care pre-hospitalization, focus on reproductive and neurodevelopmental psychiatry, and engage in the growing field of public psychiatry (specifically \"street\" psychiatry). I additionally have a passion for humanism (GHHS resident of 2023/24 at UIC) and medical education.
