Critical Care Nurse in the surgical and trauma intensive care units-12 bed high acuity Surgical ICU and 12 bed high acuity Trauma ICU -Responsible for acute post surgical care of abdominal, general ENT, orthopedic, vascular, and trauma patients and overflow of medical ICU patients-Critically assess patient conditions and adeptly handle all aspects of treatment from medication to wound care to monitoring 2 to 3 patients per shift-Frequent assessment, monitoring, and titration of vasoactive, cardiac, and sedation drips-Care and maintenance of hemodynamic lines and monitors, including: central venous, arterial, and pulmonary artery catheter-Care, monitoring, and assessment of patients receiving advanced life supporting treatments, including: Continuous Renal Replacement Therapy (CRRT)-Participates in collaborative multidisciplinary rounds with all members of the healthcare team to ensure quality, evidence-based, and safe care of patients-Participates and coordinates optimum daily patient flow and patient experience-Delivers safe and effective care according to policies and procedures-Maintains appropriate documentation of patient assessment, changes in condition, care delivered, education provided, and any incidents or exceptions related to standards of care or compliance with hospital policy-Efficiently assists with numerous bedside procedures including: central line placement, arterial line placement, intubation, prone therapy, chest tube insertion, bronchoscopy, and tracheostomy.
