About Chelsea Watenmaker
I am an MLIS graduate student with a deep interest in material culture, craft practices, and care-centered approaches to cultural work. My academic focus explores how objects and making practices function within social context as carriers of meaning, labor, memory, and care. I am drawn to research and programming that examines the interpretation of objects, particularly where craft intersects with community knowledge, cultural identity, and social justice. I’m interested in how libraries, archives, and museums can support more ethical, relational, and care-informed approaches to documenting and preserving material culture.
