About Chelsea Johnson
I\'m a sociologist, ethnographer, user experience researcher, and children\'s book author. My academic training specializes in race, class, gender and embodiment, and my work in tech focuses on trust including harassment, hate speech, misinformation, reporting, and prosocial design. I believe that research is key to social justice, and I use my background in intersectional feminism to inspire relatable media, reflexive scholarship, and responsible design. At LinkedIn, I lead our Ethics track of our Inclusive Research work stream. My critically acclaimed children’s book IntersectionAllies: We Make Room for All is cited in a U.S. Supreme Court case and is available at your favorite bookstore, and my second children\'s book Love Without Bounds: An IntersectionAllies Book about Families released in 2023. My scholarly book The New Natural about race and beauty politics was published by NYU Press in 2024 and won the American Sociological Association Best Book Award on Body and Embodiment.
