ABOUT CHELSEA KRETZ
As a Public Relations Manager who was promoted from Media Supervisor at Parkland Health in Dallas, I handle all external marketing strategies, paid campaigns, social media and web management. The Media Supervisor role included coordinating interviews between Parkland employees and local/regional/national media partners, pitching stories to local media, writing news releases, designing/posting/tracking social media content and assuring we use all of our external communication abilities to promote health services. My initial career goal in 2007 as a graduating senior from Fossil Ridge High School in Fort Worth was to become a high-profile sports reporter (my idol was Erin Andrews as she was a Zeta Tau Alpha (ZTA) fraternity member at the University of Florida and I was a ZTA at the University of North Texas). When I graduated from UNT in 2011, the \'07-\'09 recession still had a lasting impact on jobs. There weren\'t many reasonable jobs in 2011 due to recovering from the recession. Luckily, I aced an interview and got my first job as a News Producer in Wichita Falls (Market 155). I was then hired at FOX 4 News (Market 5) in Dallas, Texas. After that, I became a Social Media Strategist for an ad agency where my biggest client was Dr Pepper. I worked on high-dollar campaigns for the College Football Championship. Then, I was recruited by the Chief of the Grand Prairie Police Department in 2016 as his Public Information Officer/Media Relations Coordinator, in a beautiful city nestled between Fort Worth and Dallas. I am the Region 6 Director of the National Information Officers Association where I represent communications professionals, Public Information Officers and Marketing Strategists from Texas, Arkansas, Louisiana, New Mexico and Oklahoma. I also currently serve as Chair of the North Texas PIO Group, voted in by my peers. I serve as Vice President of the Grand Prairie Police Department’s Success Closet (non-profit) and a host of other non-profit boards in the area. I also am a big sis in the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Greater Dallas Program. I am a former freelance instructor at the Institute for Law Enforcement Administration (ILEA) at The Center for American and International Law. In my spare time, I enjoy paddle boarding, bicycling, yoga, attending concerts, doing anything that involves playing or watching sports, and spending time with family, friends, and my Siberian Husky. Fun fact: I’ve done improvisational comedy at a comedy house in Dallas and was the youngest girl in the state of Texas to earn a First Degree Black Belt in Tae Kwon Do.
