ABOUT CHRISTOPHE BERNARD

I am currently working for Jump Trading LLC in Paris.Until 2021, I worked as a trader/research scientist for Société Générale in Paris for 6 years. Before that, I worked as a senior scientist at Winton Capital Management in London for 3 years. In 2001, I founded Let It Wave SA with 3 partners, Jérôme Kalifa, Erwan Le Pennec and Stéphane Mallat. We developed image and video processing methods, and hardware for real-time video processing for professional devices and consumer electronics. We sold the company to Zoran (NASDAQ:ZRAN) in 2008. I stayed with Zoran for 3 years as a Director of Technology, being responsible for algorithm development for Zoran TV. I then decided to look for other ventures. Before Let It Wave, I did academic research at Ecole des Mines de Paris.I have written or co-written 16 patents or patent applications. My background is in image processing, information theory, pure and applied maths, and now quantitative finance.I like learning languages. I am a French native speaker and fluent in English and German. I also learned Japanese (both written and spoken). I spent over a year in Japan, first doing an internship in a Nikon facility, later working a year for a French company in Tokyo, or visiting clients. I have a lot of interest in philology (especially origin and relation between languages, origins of writing systems either ancient or still in use).
