ABOUT COLIN CHAU

In assessing geopolitical risk, my analytical repertoire is holistic and sober, generating actionable intelligence and advisory products on emerging and ongoing threats including: political (decisions, trajectory, regulatory moves), economic/macroeconomic conditions (currency issues, workforce availability), infrastructure (critical supply chain nodes and telecommunications), security (crime, terrorism espionage, and business continuity) and mitigation strategies. Risks are best understood on a forward-looking basis, as these risks are better avoided than worked through, and providing first-mover advantage before others realize the risk environment has improved. I acknowledge, without prejudice, the relevance of both the normative environment as well as the practical, impersonal forces that intersect with and define the strategic imperatives and actions of disparate actors. A fluid risk environment constantly alters an organization\'s available options, often times forcing them to be extremely nimble. I empower clients to better understand key int’l trends and to make smarter decisions. I internalise what drives your team\'s core mission success, and strive for opportunity creation, revenue generation, and an enhanced market position. In private practice, bespoke services (available on access retainer) for clients in the past 6years have included deep dives for entities on matters such as cartel landscapes, precursor tracing and their links to state-official action and organized crime, as well as the sectarian landscape of Iraqi and Lebanese politics, and general assessments for human and infrastructure capital protection and asset loss mitigation in high-risk jurisdictions (incl. political, state-society, climate, and personal security risk dimensions). I have briefed embedded/contracted asset close-protection field teams and c-suite entities on threat modelling, rapid acclimation, counter-surveillance, and site-specific threat-actor MOs. Finally, I appreciate partners that value interdisciplinary teams with \"affective\" competencies. I am driven to invest the time and effort into managing meaningful relationships and enjoy hacking \'wicked problems\'. Actively seeking out NDA’ed collabs with specialists in digital + financial forensics, predictive analytics, and CTI. I’m also a secret home remodeller for whole-space functional/aesthetic design and workspace optimizations. Creative content space: home food servicing, low intervention wines, and coffees. I like to connect and nerd out with other motorcycle and equine enthusiasts.
