ABOUT CHASITY MAYNARD
Chasity Maynard is a leader and innovator in digital and multimedia storytelling, receiving top honors across the state of Florida and the country. This year, she was honored with a regional Edward R. Murrow award for her podcast \'Hit Close to Home,\' the first of its kind for her newsroom. Other notable recognitions she has received include digital, investigative and environmental storytelling awards from the Florida Association of Broadcast Journalists, the Mark of Excellence from the Society of Professional Journalists and the Florida Magazine Association Charlie Award. She was also a finalist in the 2022 Hearst Photojournalism Championship, in which only six young storytellers across the country are selected to compete. Through a creative use of all forms of storytelling — long-form writing, photos, data, public records and multimedia — Chasity aims to produce compelling, meaningful and compassionate stories. She is passionate about supporting underserved communities and creating understandable and accessible articles for all audiences.Chasity’s work has been featured in the AP, the Washington Post, the New York Times, the Tampa Bay Times, NBC News and other publications internationally.She has a B.S. in Journalism from the College of Journalism and Communications at the University of Florida. In her free time, you can find Chasity spending time with her cat, hiking or reading.
