ABOUT CHARLOTTE TESSIER

Charlotte Tessier is a PhD candidate in law under the supervision of Professor Véronique Guèvremont (Université Laval, Quebec) and Professor Giuseppe Mazziotti (Universidade Católica Portuguesa, Lisbon). Her thesis examines the relationship between UNESCO\'s cultural conventions and bilateral and regional trade agreements in the light of the concept of cultural sovereignty. Charlotte holds a Master\'s degree in international and transnational law from Université Laval and a Bachelor of Laws Common Law and Legal English from Université du Mans in France. She worked as a research professional for the UNESCO Chair on the Diversity of Cultural Expressions (Quebec, Canada) for two years and continues to work at the Chair while completing her doctorate in law. She was also the coordinator of the Arts, Media and Cultural Diversity Division of the International Observatory on the Societal Impacts of AI and Digital Technology (Obvia) for two and a half years, from January 2023 to September 2025. Her areas of research include international cultural law, international economic law and European law. She speaks and works in French, English, Portuguese and Spanish.
