ABOUT CHARLOTTE HOCHMAN

Charlotte Hochman develops an indisciplinary artistic practice centred on the interstice as a space of potential.Nourished by close collaboration with artists, activists, and scientists, she works in the in-between — across disciplines, statuses, and geographies — and explores a form of creativity deeply rooted in the political.She is the founder of spaces, collectives, and living formats such as ce-ci - centre for interstitial creation, La Ruche, PLACE, and Wow!Labs. Her work includes writing films — most recently \"How We Meet\"(2023), screened in Oslo, San Francisco, Berlin, and Tunis — and \"Not So Fragile\"(2020), a crowd-play and exhibition presented at the Maison des Métallos, Belleville Park, and the Somewhere Places Festival in Spain.She is a graduate of the École Nationale d’Art de Paris (ENDA) in artistic research, of the University of Oxford in philosophy (where she received an award for her work on freedom in Spinoza’s Ethics), and has also studied at the University of London and INSEAD.She is regularly invited to teach in universities, lead interdisciplinary artistic residencies, and contribute to cultural strategies focused on emerging narratives — around belonging, planetary boundaries, ancestral futures, imagination, and AI.In 2018, she was in residence and taught at the California College of the Arts in San Francisco. From 2010 to 2015, she collaborated with President Barack Obama to experiment building creative spaces in unstable contexts. She has received two UN awards: the Intercultural Innovation Award (2022) and the Women-Led Innovation Award (2023). A Fulbright Scholar in 2017, she is also part of networks such as the BMW Foundation’s Responsible Leaders and the Global Diplomacy Lab.
