ABOUT CHARLOTTE DUFFY
I am an enthusiastic student with aspirations of becoming a Lawyer. During my work experience with Kate Bisset, Area Coroner in the Lancashire and Blackburn with Darwen area, I was able to observe different cases in court, noting how she communicated with grieving relatives as well as the lawyers in the court room. Prior to each case, we went through the case notes so Ms Bisset had a background knowledge of the case about to be discussed. She explained to me her thoughts, as well as asking me mine. Once the hearing had concluded and we retuned to her chambers, she explained the reasons behind her verdict, talking through each salient point. Whilst there, she allowed me to grant access for CT autopsies to be administered. This gave me a rounded insight into the processes involved in being a Coroner, both in court, as well as behind the scenes.
