ABOUT CHARLOTTE BETTS

Working for the Methodist Church to support building projects which will create assets for local communities. I get to work with some amazing people, mainly volunteers, whose primary motivation is to do all the good they can. The Methodist church has a nationwide portfolio of land. Would love to hear from you if you work for a housing association or developer interested in partnership working.Started my career in housing by working at the frontline. I gained first hand experience of delivering and improving support services. Studied to become a chartered member of the Chartered Institute of Housing.Moved into policy development for a nationwide mental health charity. I worked across different strands of support, from advocacy to clinical services. I helped to raise standards in service delivery and move the organisation forward in terms of governance and risk management. After doing policy for five years, I got the opportunity to focus again on housing. I was given a brief by a large learning disabilities charity to develop its approach to housing both in terms of the partners it worked with and its own housing arm. During my time with the charity I did everything from train staff, work directly with families and people supported, manage large and small projects, helped win tenders, commercial negotiation with developers and housing associations, manage commissioner relationships and everything in between.Views expressed in posts are my own
