Currently I am working as a head chef/kitchen manager which was a promotion I earned after being a loyal hard-working member of the team for a year and proved myself to my manager I was capable of handling more responsibilities and manage other staff. Since starting at the Brunch Restaurant, I have been a part of building a new menu and reorganizing the kitchen to better suit myself and the other chefs at work. Daily we have a busy seating area I which customers order hot and cold food which must be kept to a high standard. Serving customers who order to eat in, or takeaway means I’m regularly having to time manage different orders and work well with other chefs in the kitchen. Not only do I work as a team in the kitchen but majority of my shifts I work independently in the kitchen, so I must take on all day-to-day duties such as cleaning and prepping whilst serving food. Being the manager, I oversee the other chefs at work making sure they stick to their daily tasks and ensuring high standards are maintained. I also converse with my manager weekly on ways we can cut costs and optimize profit as well as improve on keeping the trust of our regulars and bringing in new customers, overall making sure that I personally complete tasks set by my manager for myself and the kitchen as a whole.
